Where does MARTA go? MARTA operates primarily within the Atlanta perimeter. Bus routes and rail lines do extend beyond the the Interstate 285 loop, but the majority of our routes and lines run within the perimeter. MARTA rail runs north, south, east, west and northeast.

In fiscal year 2019, there were a total of 421 reported crimes, which averages out to 35 crimes per month. These took place on trains and buses, in parking lots and at other MARTA facilities.
Allow extra time for the 12-minute shuttle ride. If transferring at the Five Points station, keep in mind that an airport train can take one to 20 minutes to arrive — 20 minutes being the worst-case scenario if you just miss a southbound train on a weekend, holiday or after 8:30 p.m.

The AirTrain goes to the airport from the station every 4–12 minutes. The trip takes about 10 minutes. You can get to the AirTrain JFK from this LIRR hub by escalators, elevators, people movers, and an overhead mezzanine bridge.
The short answer (based on my own personal experience) is that the minimum connection time for domestic flights in Atlanta is 35 minutes. It doesn't matter what terminal you arrive at and what terminal you're departing from. 35 minutes is doable. Anything less than that, not so much.
