Taking a wooden playset apart is not easy. Moving it and reassembling is challenging. Once it's disassembled, we lug it from the backyard and load it on a trailer custom designed to relocate play equipment.
How long does a Rainbow playset last?
How long does a Rainbow Play System last? Well, that depends on your maintenance routine. If you inspect your Play System regularly and reseal it when necessary, it will last you 25 years or more. Can you move a swing set without taking it apart?
Before undertaking swing set relocation, it is good if you have some experience working on home improvement projects. Moving a swing set does require taking apart and breaking down the largest sections piece-by-piece.
The cost to move a swing set can be anywhere between $100 and $1000, depending on the size and type of the set and the relocation distance.
Moving a swing set, however, is not an easy feat – it takes a lot of work and care. You need to disassemble the set, pack it properly, and find a way to transport it to your new home. Then, you need to reassemble it and secure it in its new place.
Remove the swings from their hinges and store them in garbage bags or boxes, taking extra care not to tangle the chains. Unscrew the slide, monkey bars, crossbar and ladder. Place all the items in the truck or trailer with added padding between the wooden pieces and strap everything down securely.
Take Down the Swing Beam — Climb back up on the ladder and remove the brackets or screws that keep the swing beam in place. When these are gone, the main swing beam should fall to the ground. After the main beam is down, unscrew and break apart the rest of the swing frame.
Lay a sheet of plywood on the ground and place the fort on top of it on its side. Carry the fort with three other people with one person on each corner. It may be best to hire some professionals to help you carry the fort. Load it carefully onto the back of your moving truck.
